Yoga and Embodiment Retreat Code of Ethics
“My Radiant Song” - Nicaragua 2025
Welcome to our Yoga and Embodiment Retreat! We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and environmentally conscious space for all participants. This Code of Ethics outlines our expectations to ensure a respectful, transformative, and harmonious experience for everyone.
1. Authentic Self-Expression
We celebrate and encourage authentic self-expression. Please honor each other's unique identities, experiences, and perspectives. Be open to learning from one another and create an atmosphere that supports diversity and inclusion. Be rooted in curiosity.
2. Confidentiality and Courageous Vulnerability
This retreat is a space for courageous vulnerability, where participants are encouraged to explore and share their inner selves. In doing so, we place a high value on maintaining the confidentiality and trust of fellow participants. Please be mindful that what is shared within the retreat remains within the retreat. Respect the privacy of others and refrain from discussing the personal stories and experiences of fellow retreat members without their permission.
Engage in open and honest communication, but ensure that your fellow participants feel secure in the knowledge that their vulnerabilities are held in confidence. By upholding this commitment, we contribute to a supportive environment where everyone can feel free to express themselves authentically.
3. Respect for Boundaries
Respect personal boundaries and consent. Always ask for permission before touching or engaging in physical contact with others. Pay attention to verbal and non-verbal cues to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe.
Additionally, be mindful of individuals who may choose solitude as a form of self-reflection or personal space. If you notice someone in a moment of solitude, approach with respect and inquire if they prefer to remain undisturbed or if they welcome company. This simple act of checking in promotes an atmosphere of consideration and understanding.
4. Inclusivity
Our retreat is open and welcoming to all individuals, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, theological perspective, or relationship status (polyamory, monogamy, singleness). We are in a space of celebrating each of our unique identities. Discrimination or harassment based on gender, sexuality, or any other characteristic will not be tolerated.
We strive to always respect each person's chosen pronouns. Use the pronouns that individuals have shared and affirmed for themselves. If you are uncertain about someone's pronouns, don't hesitate to ask in a respectful and private manner.
5. Alcohol Consumption
Alcohol will be available on-site, and participants are allowed to imbibe responsibly. However, please be mindful of consumption and recognize that this retreat is centered around healing. Overconsumption is discouraged, and everyone is encouraged to be aware of their limits.
6. Healing-Centered Environment
This retreat is designed as a healing-centered space. Embrace mutual respect, kindness, and compassion in all interactions. Approach each other with curiosity, fostering an atmosphere of learning and understanding. Be supportive of others on their journey, and avoid behavior that may hinder the healing process. If you need assistance or support, please reach out to the retreat organizer.
7. Respect for the Environment
Respect the land, animals, and plant life. We are visitors in their pristine environment. Help maintain the beauty of our surroundings by practicing the principle of “Leave no Trace”. Follow any guidelines provided for responsible environmental practices. This includes staying on designated paths and being mindful of the local ecosystem.
8. Respect for Staff Members
Treat the staff members at the retreat center with respect and kindness. They play a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our retreat. If you have any concerns or feedback, address it through appropriate channels, maintaining a positive, cooperative attitude.
9. Community Well-Being
Strive to create a positive and supportive community. Offer assistance to those in need, practice empathy, and contribute to a collective sense of well-being throughout the retreat.
