Earth Spirit Rising
A Ritual and Cultural retreat

In the Mountains Above
Antigua, Guatemala
Begin your year in reconnection
Join us for 7 days immersed in lush mountains and volcanic views just outside of Antigua, Guatemala
This retreat is born out of a desire for us, as humans, to return to our origins. We come from the earth, and we return to the earth at the end of our life cycle… yet how much time do we spend truly communing with it in our modern age?
Throughout human history, we lived by the cycles of the seasons, the gifts of the land, and the wisdom of our connection with nature. We lived in community, coming together to eat, sing, dance, move our bodies, and celebrate the earth through ritual and ceremony.
Earth Spirit Rising is an invitation to return to this ancient home, while still honoring the realities of modern life. We’ll explore a balance between old and new, earth and fire, stillness and movement, depth and play.
Held in the mountains above Antigua Guatemala, this journey combines cultural exploration, connection to the land, and earth-based practices that include time with a local shaman and guided experiences through the historic city.

MAYAN FIRE CEREMONY
In this traditional Mayan ceremony the Shaman works with a very specially crafted ceremonial fire of flowers, herbs, tobacco, incense, and other traditional offerings to the ancestors. Participants are encouraged to bring a personal offering for the fire as well such as cacao, a flower, or a written prayer. The ceremony calls upon the cardinal directions and sacred elements, and the Shaman will call upon all 20 of the Mayan Nahuales, educating you on each. The ceremony will also invite opportunities for intention setting, release, story telling, song, and prayer.
VISIT THE COLONIAL CITY - ANTIGUA
Explore the vibrant heart of this historic colonial city, guided by local insight and rich cultural storytelling.
We’ll wander through the colorful market, visit iconic landmarks like the Santa Catalina Arch, and stroll the cobblestone streets while learning about the region’s history. Our day includes a stop at the Jade Museum, time to enjoy local coffee or a refreshing drink, and a visit to the historic Tanque La Unión.
An opportunity to experience the colors, flavors, and spirit of Guatemala.
GUIDED JUNGLE HIKE
We’ll enjoy a 2-hour guided hike to explore the local area including beautiful tropical mountain forests, old growth trees, and local fincas. On this hike we’ll encounter many beautiful vistas perfect for taking photos, and we are very likely to see many rare tropical birds!
celebrate your connection to the earth
Benefits of the journey
We’ll deepen our connection with ourselves and our physical bodies through yoga, dance, breathwork, singing, and the healing vibrations of sound. Evenings in the sauna offer space to release, restore, and unwind.
We’ll foster connection with each other through shared meals, laughter, and playful exploration of the land, remembering what it feels like to be in community.
We’ll honor the sacredness of the Earth through walking meditations, shamanic journeys with live drumming, and simple, meaningful practices in nature. You may hug a tree or three… and feel a renewed sense of connection and symbiosis with all living things.
You’ll also be invited to reflect on your relationship with the earth, not as something separate, but as a living relationship, and gain tools to continue nurturing that connection beyond the retreat.
